Calcium citrate is formed by bonding calcium to citric acid, a naturally-occurring fruit acid. Calcium citrate is readily soluble and this attribute may make this form more readily absorbable than some other calcium supplements including calcium carbonate. It is easily digested and absorbed equally well with or without food. The amount of calcium in this product is balanced with magnesium in a 2:1 ratio.
Magnesium citrate is a readily-soluble, supplemental form of magnesium. Magnesium citrate may be better absorbed by individuals with hypochlorhydria (low levels of stomach acid) compared to less soluble forms of magnesium such as magnesium oxide.*
