Herbolax is an herbal combination that supports healthy gastrointestinal motility. It includes senna, an herb that can support healthy bowel movement by direct action on the large intestine. Senna’s bioactive compounds, members of the anthraquinone family, work by regulating water reabsorption from the colon and colonic motility. Preclinical research suggests that they decrease water reabsorption in the colon and promote electrolyte secretion into the colon to raise the fecal water content. By stimulating the myenteric plexus, an important nerve center that coordinates peristalsis in the gastrointestinal tract, these compounds also increase intestinal motility. Collectively, these actions help produce soft stools and reduce transit time to support healthy bowel movements. In addition to providing senna, Herbolax offers other anthraquinone-containing herbs, including rhubarb and cascara, along with a blend of anise and fenugreek. Anise contains the bioactive compound anethole, while fenugreek seeds are known for their high content of mucilaginous fiber.*
Adults: Take four capsules daily before bedtime, a few hours before or after taking medications or other supplements, or as recommended by your healthcare practitioner. Take two to three times per week.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding; if you are allergic to plants of the Asteraceae/Compositae/Daisy family; if you have liver or gall bladder disorders, and/or bowel obstruction; or if you have abnormal constrictions of the gastrointestinal tract, potential or existing intestinal blockage, atonic bowel, appendicitis, inflammatory colon disease such as Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis, abdominal pain of unknown origin, undiagnosed rectal bleeding, severe dehydration with depleted water or electrolytes or diarrhea, do not use. If you are taking thiazide diuretics, corticosteroids, licorice root or other medication or health products which may aggravate electrolyte imbalance, do not use. If you develop symptoms of liver trouble or hypersensitivity, discontinue use. If you experience abdominal pain, cramps, spasms and/or diarrhea, reduce dose or discontinue use.
